TONIGHT (Sat)

Saturday night, March 28 at 7pm Live music with Doc Every-Day's-A-Holiday.
Mike "Doc" Retzinger with his lackey Joe LaForce.
(kidding, of course, about the lackey thing...har!...Joe's really more like Doc's roadie...ouch!...no, seriously, these two are as smooth together as, oh, I don't know, Simon & Garfunkel...or Seals & Croft...or Burns & Allen...or Captain & Tennille...or Abbot & Costello...or Keith & Mick...or Sacco & Vanzetti...or Ren & Stimpy...or Bill & Ted...or Angry Beavers...or...I could go on forever...
Dang good guitar work and singing by these gents...always excellent.
Doc & Joe were here last night (they were really rather amazing) and they demanded that they be allowed to return tonight...truthfully, I had to scramble to fill the slot tonight and pretty much begged and groveled asking Doc & Joe to play tonight too. Doc, being the more thoughtful and better looking half of the duo, readily agreed, while Joe tried to leverage my predicament to his favor and demanded more pay. I begrudgingly agreed, and had a contract quickly drawn up and will be paying the guys each a buck-&-a-half tonight (we don't hardly pay anyone anything anyway).

Seriously, you would do yourself a favor by seeing Doc & Joe perform...they truly are outstanding and a lot of fun.

Last night (Fri) This piece of Carson's isn't in the show, but it gives you an idea of his talent.
The Carson Kugler Art Opening. Most of you know that I love Carson and Tina Kugler's art, and they are such wonderful people too. I'm not exaggerating, this stuff is truly skillful, surreal, whimsical, humorous and fun. Had a very fun opening...kids runnin' aroun' everywhere, plenty of artsy fartsy types acting like they know what they're talking about, arguments over which pieces were favorites, small bidding wars, plenty of "harumphs" and "what is art?" jibberish, wedgies for the nerds, the old art vs illustration debate, etc, etc... Carson and Tina sold eight pieces...sweet. Might have a second opening in a few weeks even.

Hey, an actual update!

Derek & Dan
Here's some Flickr sets from the last couple of weekends: Adam Morantez 10/3; Bill Martell 10/4; Dan Walkner with Derek Pritzl 10/10; Kelly Underwood 10/11.

Adam Morantez & Bill Martell - weekend of Oct 3&4.

Dan Walkner with Derek Pritzl & Kelly Underwood - weekend of Oct 10&11
.

The Usual Suspects
I'm having a bit of trouble loading video onto YouTube. Will give it another try later (getting weary of it not loading already!). Have a great vid of Dan & Derek performing together, and a fun one of Kelly (I think she's flipping me the bird). Dan and Derek were freaking awesome together, and Kelly was a blast the next night, making up a bunch of off-the-cuff silly songs directed at people in the audience (including my daughter, Jesse, which was very fun).
Product placement, baby!

Gig pics from last couple weekends on Flickr

Click on the links below each picture (or in the right side column) to check out the images from the last couple of weeks. Not going to comment on these nights next other than to say that they were all a lot of fun...check out the pics on Flickr and you'll see. I do intend to come back to a couple of these in the next three or four days and offer a brief review, so come on back.

Yacking with Kim, Terry, Sandy, (and Roger & Deb) during Bill's night.

Bill Martell pics from Saturday night

Here's the Flickr link for images from Bill's gig last night. What a fine evening...Bill was fabulous, even got a bit of a standing-O at the end, which was very cool. Pat Zyduck sat in for a few songs during Bill's break. Thanks Bill...really excellent stuff.

Art & Music - Friday & Saturday nights

Friday night at 7:00 we will host an opening reception for "Stuck Behind Glass" featuring the art of our own Kim Geiser. Kim owns Persimmons art and vintage gallery in Manitowoc and she has created a bunch of really funky, fun and beguiling shadow boxes and dioramas. Friday night (tomorrow night) at 7:00...come one, come all.

Saturday night at 7:00 Bill Martell will bring his earthy brand of acoustic guitar and singing to Stumpjack for hi first solo gig here. Bill has been around for quite a while, performing with various people and bands throughout the area. He currently performs with Becky Markvart in the duo "6 Degrees." Bill has a very nice, smooth and solid style and we're looking forward to a mighty fun evening. Come on by and have a beer or latte.
