You are quite right, you used to be able to regularly buy rabbit in grocery stores. You still can, although it seems to be on the meat department shelves much more sporadically these days. I have seen and purchased farm raised rabbit from time to time at Festival Foods and Piggly Wiggly. Of course it always seems that when I get a hankering for it and go back to buy some that is when they are not carrying it. I'd suggest that you ask your grocer if they ever carry it, if there are certain times of year that they prefer to carry it, and if they're not carrying it currently who their supplier is so that you can contact that farm directly. Also, if you're in Wisconsin, there is a site and small publication called Farm Fresh Atlas (http://www.farmfreshatlas.org/) and there are are surely some sources for farm raised rabbit in there. I've eaten around one a day since making them, Maria. I REALLY love the flavor and firmness of them. My Dad always made good pickled eggs, although he used less sugar than I do and his had a preponderance of vinegar flavor, which he enjoys.
